A Family Forged in Resilience
Lucy Muthoni Wanjiru endured years of domestic abuse before making the courageous decision to leave with her four children. With no income and no safety net, she rebuilt her family's life from the ground up in Nakuru.
Despite overwhelming hardship, Lucy instilled in her children one unshakeable belief: hard work and faith can move mountains. That belief became the foundation Stephanie stands on today.
Straight A's Against All Odds
In one of Kenya's most competitive academic environments, Stephanie has maintained outstanding grades while juggling responsibilities that most adults would find overwhelming. During school holidays, she runs a small food preparation business — waking before dawn to cook and sell meals that help cover her family's basic needs.
Recently diagnosed with a hernia requiring ongoing medical treatment, Stephanie has not let even her health challenges slow her down. She continues to excel academically while managing her condition with quiet strength.
Three Generations of Hope
When P61 first connected with this family, they discovered that Lucy's elderly mother had been living in desperate conditions — abused and neglected. The P61 family stepped in to provide care, dignity, and a safe environment.
At 85 years old, she discovered new hope and purpose — living proof that transformation has no age limit. Grandmother, mother, and daughter: three generations of women, each discovering their worth and rewriting their story.
"Nothing is impossible to achieve. Your background does not determine your destiny."
